I’s married now!! But getting to this point was nothing short of a stressful struggle. Due to many factors, I didn’t hire a wedding planner. Instead, I assembled a trusty team of my mom, and my mother-in-law, with help from a few friends and my favorite sister-cousin. The following are a few tips that helped me thorough the journey, it was not always stressful nor was it always fun, but there were so many things I learned along the way!

amazon

Amazon is your friend!! If you are looking for bachelorette, bridal shower, or wedding decorations, Amazon is the website to visit. They have so many things including but not limited to balloons, sashes, table numbers and sooo much more! They have several items that can turn your event up a notch with reasonable pricing. If you are a prime member take advantage of that two-day shipping!

Craft stores can be a God send. While paying decor companies seems like the best and easiest option, some of the items they offer can be found at craft stores such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. The benefit in purchasing instead of renting is you get to keep the items as keepsakes after your big day! Hobby Lobby also offers 50% off of the entire wedding section quite frequently. This can cut the cost of items that you want but may not want to fork over a ton of money for. Even websites such as Etsy, Oriental Trading Company and Party City have a lot to offer when it comes to decor and especially favors for guests. You can also find materials for invitations, save the dates, and thank you notes. If you want to cut costs there you should also look into Staples, Groupon, or Evite. Stay on the lookout for the sales and free shipping!

Assemble your team. If you don’t have a wedding planner, it is important to find the few people you will be able to lean on during the time leading up to your big day. To keep down on conflict try to think about the people who will be most dependable as you go through your journey, the last thing you want to do is argue with friends or family during such a special time! You can look through Pinterest to gather ideas of what you and your spouse to be want your day to look like. Pinterest has countless ideas, from bouquets to room ambiance you can find it all. Make sure your team is present for all of the fun things as well such as picking your dress and accessory shopping!

Speaking of assembling your team, you also have the task of finding vendors that will carry out the vision for your wedding. This can be a daunting & time consuming task. It is best to look in all avenues to find the companies you can potentially use. Google reviews and Yelp reviews are helpful when trying to sort out if a company is worth the money. You can also subscribe to The Knot and Wedding Wire to get valuable information and reviews on several companies in all categories such as DJ’S, photographers, videographers and more. Bridal expos are also a good way to quickly get info from many vendors at one time while enjoying samples and freebies! Always speak to a company and have an in person meeting before making your final decision!

Last but not least, DON’T STRESS TOO MUCH! I know this is much easier said than done. But, keep in mind that this is a joyous occasion. Although wedding planning comes with so many decisions and so much money flying out, try to stay level headed. As much as you want the day to go perfectly, that may not be a complete reality. There may be minor hiccups, but the end goal is that you are marrying your best friend! Enjoy every single moment of being engaged. Dwell in the moment while attending your bridal shower, bachelorette party, etc! It is a time to celebrate your love and the milestone in you and your fiancés lives! Remember, as long as at the end of the day you are married to your future spouse, nothing else matters! Happy planning and cheers to your happily ever after!
