I have now officially completed my grad school program…(pause for dramatic effect)! With a master’s degree in tote, honestly the best things about my accomplishment is that I can begin reading for leisure again! My goal for the upcoming year is to read at least one book a month, if not more. This past month I was able to get through two great reads.
Boss Bride instantly caught my attention with the title. But, as I began to read I quickly realized that the book is not only meant for married women. It is meant for boss chicks striving to gain both love and success in all areas of life. It especially encourages women to strive for self-love. Each chapter is filled with personal anecdotes from author Cherreah K. Jackson, and filled with journal and thinking activities for the reader. If you are a newlywed, married for several years, just dating, or enjoying your single season, Boss Bride is a read that you are sure to gain insight from!
First off, let’s just take a moment to acknowledge the pure joy that former First Lady Michelle Obama conveys on the cover of her newly released book, Becoming. The book has gained countless amounts of press and Mrs. Obama even went on a book tour to discuss and promote the book. The autobiography details her time in the White House but also a more personal time of her upbringing and time before she became Mrs.Obama. She discusses obstacles she overcame and struggles she has endured during her life. While I read the book I couldn’t help but to become an even bigger fan of The Obama family.
If you have read either of these books, what were your thoughts? What are your new year reading goals!? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
